Prepositions of Time: In, On & At

In é usado para meses, anos, séculos, estações do ano, períodos longos, de manhã, de tarde, e de tardezinha (evening).

  • She's coming back in the winter.

  • The concert will be in December.

  • He usually reads in the evening.

  • She drinks tea in the afternoon

  • I don't like to eat breakfast in the morning.

  • It wasn't like that in the past.

On é usado para dias e datas.

  • The concert will be on July 24.

  • I go to church on Sundays.

  • The disaster happened on January 19, 2010.

  • I'm going to wear pink on my birthday.

  • I'm gonna dress up on New Year's Eve.

  • She does her homework on weekends.

At é usado para tempos precisos e para noite.

  • We eat lunch at noon.

  • We'll start at 6 pm.

  • I like to read at night.

  • I'll see you at Christmas.

  • She used to stay in her bedroom at dinnertime.

  • I'm not looking for a job at the moment.

  • I'll see you at sunrise.

Exceções

Utilizamos on Christmas somente quando acrescentamos "day" logo depois.

  • I'm excited to get presents on Christmas day.

No restante, usamos at.

  • I'm excited to get presents at Christmas.

Para dizer "bem na hora" em inglês, falamos on time.

  • The bus got here right on time.

Ao usar as palavras last, next, every e this, não utilizamos in, on ou at.

  • I saw Clara last June.

  • We're going to the movies this Saturday.

  • I visit my parents every weekend.

  • I'll see you next week.
