In many cases, this question comes even if you’re not being interviewed for a specific leadership position. The employer seeks to know if you’re prepared for different situations that you might have to face in the company, or they might have a promotion in mind if you excel in the position.

To prepare an answer for this question, think of different situations in which you had to lead others and what you did to successfully help your team. Consider the following points to guide you through an answer.
Do your research – there are many different leadership styles that you probably already used in the past or that you can adapt to yourself. Use them to simplify your explanation during your interview.
Emphasize flexibility – explain that you can adapt to different styles according to the needs of the company.
Share a story – after you explain your method, ask your interviewer if they want to listen to an example. Then share an experience that you had in the past where you were able to lead a team and give results.
Here’s a sample answer:
“I strongly believe in the importance of being adaptable and choosing different methods for the appropriate situations. However, I take pride in my ability to communicate effectively and delegate when necessary. I believe that good communication is key, it helps projects to advance at a smooth pace.”
Now you know how to prepare for this question. Make sure you take time to reflect on your strengths and leadership skills as part of your preparation. Good luck!
